The Story Behind the Strings

Muacy Trio emerged from a shared devotion to the revolutionary spirit of Brazilian composer Moacir Santos — a visionary whose inventive blend of harmony and rhythm continues to inspire artists across generations.

With a unique instrumentation of violoncello, violin, and contrabass, the trio explores the rich textures of Brazilian musical tradition, weaving in elements of contemporary jazz to craft a sound that is both deeply rooted and strikingly modern.

Muacy Trio embraces the fluidity of musical identity, drawing from Afro-Brazilian roots while reaching into jazz, improvisation, and beyond — always in search of new forms of connection, rhythm, and resonance.
